Application of electrochemical hydrogen(H2) sensors in the power industry

Source:ShanXi TengXing Sensor TechnologyCo.,Ltd2025-08-11 09:35:44

In the modern power industry, electrochemical hydrogen sensors have broad application prospects and play a significant role in a wide range of sectors, including power generation, energy storage, and industrial safety. Hydrogen is an excellent energy storage medium with advantages such as high energy density, rapid response, and flexible application. Therefore, it is widely used in the power industry as a means of energy storage. Electrochemical hydrogen sensors are one of the key technologies for achieving safe and efficient hydrogen application.

With the development of new energy technologies, hydrogen energy, as a low-carbon, efficient, and renewable energy source, has attracted increasing attention and promotion from countries and industries. In the power industry, hydrogen fuel cell technology is a new energy solution that produces only water and electricity as byproducts. Its high efficiency, cleanness, and environmental friendliness make it a key development direction for future power generation, with enormous potential and development prospects. Therefore, electrochemical hydrogen sensors can effectively monitor the operating status of fuel cells, improve power output efficiency, and prevent malfunctions.

Electrochemical hydrogen sensors can be used to monitor the hydrogen concentration generated during the operation of energy storage battery packs. Energy storage batteries are currently widely used in power peak regulation and grid backup applications. However, battery aging, overcharging, and over-discharging can lead to the generation and accumulation of hydrogen, potentially causing explosions and other accidents. Real-time monitoring of the hydrogen concentration generated during the operation of energy storage battery packs can effectively mitigate safety hazards. Similarly, electrochemical hydrogen sensors can be used to detect hydrogen leaks within power equipment such as transformers, ensuring safe operation.

For hydrogen detection in the power industry, Tensensor recommends the following electrochemical oxygen sensors for hydrogen concentration monitoring, effectively preventing hazards to personnel and equipment caused by excessive hydrogen concentrations.

MQ-E3-H2 Electrochemical H2 Sensor

The H2 sensor MQ-E3-H2 has the advantages of high performance, small size, high sensitivity, good selectivity, and good low-concentration output linearity. It has a response time of 90 s, the maximum range is 0~2000ppm, and an operating environment of -20~50℃ and 15~90%RH. It is widely suitable for hydrogen detection in industrial and environmental fields.
