MQ-E2-CH2O-φ16 is the sensor of fuel battery type. By redox reaction, CH2O and O₂release charge and form the current. The value of current is proportional to the concentration of CH2O, and follow the Faraday’s Law. By testing the value of current, the concentration of CH2O is known.

Cross-interference characteristics
