MQ-E2-CO carbon monoxide sensor is a fuel cell-type sensor. Carbon monoxide and oxygen undergo corresponding redox reactions at the working and counter electrodes, releasing charges and forming an electric current. The magnitude of the current is directly proportional to the carbon monoxide concentration and follows Faraday's law. The carbon monoxide concentration can be determined by measuring the magnitude of the current.
