The MQ-E3-C7H8 Electrochemical toluene sensor is a constant-potential electrolytic sensor. Toluene and oxygen undergo a corresponding redox reaction at the working and counter electrodes, releasing charge and generating a current. The magnitude of the generated current is proportional to the toluene concentration. The toluene concentration can be determined by measuring the current.
