The MQ-E3-CH4S methyl mercaptan sensor is a constant-potential electrolytic sensor. Methyl mercaptan undergoes a corresponding redox reaction with oxygen at the working and counter electrodes, releasing charge and generating an electric current. The magnitude of the generated current is proportional to the methyl mercaptan concentration. The measured current can be used to determine the methyl mercaptan concentration.
